About Me

Belinda Alexander

I began my career in the fashion industry at Harrods working at ‘Way In’ in 1972 as personal assistant to the General Manager, Tim Moseley. Before that I had studied art and fashion in Paris at a finishing school where I became fluent in French.

After leaving Harrods, I moved to Parker Humphries, a well-known fashion production and choreography company based in Knightsbridge. Here I learnt the craft of “styling and accessorising” and sourcing models for the large scale fashion shows I became responsible for producing in the UK and Germany.

Being a similar size and shape to many of the models I employed I was encouraged to become a model myself and became one of the last catwalk models for the famous couturier Hartnell – not surprising really as my grandmother was one of the first!

I also modelled for Escada in London, Paris and Hong Kong.

At the same time she started teaching at The London School of Modelling where her lifetime passion for teaching the young confidence and control of their body language began. As schools have now become more aware of the need to prepare their students for the outside world I is much in demand to run Life Skills courses which include teaching the art of conversation, interview technique, grooming, personal health, and above all courtesy and good manners.

Apart from tutoring I also have another business interest called “Fashion People” which she runs with her partner Gail Little. This offers a personal shopping and styling service as well as fashion show productions. Gail and I are particularly well known in The Newcastle Metro Centre as ‘The Shopping Angels’.
